HST 2015 Update #3 - 10 ROUTINES YOU WON'T SEE AT THE OPEN

OH MY GAWD WHAT A NIGHT!

Mind BLOWN!

We've just seen an ASTONISHING ten routines of dazzling choreography, complex music and soundtrack mixes, and costumes absolutely out of this world. And the DANCING! Brilliant display of the wealth of talent in other dance genres - ballet, jazz, contemporary, lyrical, hip hop, lindy, charleston, and BROADWAY!

We just witnessed the "Scaaaary Strictly" - the Champion/Allstar Strictly Swing.

But wait! We started the night with Trick or Treating IN THE ROOMS AND HALLS OF THE HOTEL! And a Costume Parade to end all costume parades!

Wait till you hear about it, but wait, first this Strictly we've just seen! Holy mackerel!

First Kevin Kane and Kara Frenzel, "Inside Out" and "Upside Down", cartwheels! Hand-stands! To "Upside Down"

Then pussy cats Benji and Melissa, and a life-size kitty litter box, to a medley of cat songs. CRAZY fantastic dancing and choreography. Benji climbed almost onto Lindo's head in a flailing thrashing cat lap dance.

Then BenMo and Torri as green M&M's dancing gangsta to, what else? Eminem. Bad. Ass.

Next Samir and Nicole (and Connor as the sad tiger,) and a palace; in a fabulous, complicated, brilliant rendition of Aladdin! To the Aladdin soundtrack, complete with dialogue.

Ben and Cameo, and a dangerously big black whip, which they whipped at each other, in Devo black and those weird red Devo hats - to Whip It. She whipped him good. Right off the floor.

Parker and Courtney as two very sexy pieces of toast - peanut butter Parker and jelly Courtney. Parker jumped up and mounted Lindo again for another lap dance. [Lindo: "I was just supposed to be judging. I want to get paid double for this"]

Maxime and Alyssa, "Pink Panther"- she completely in pink including a pink face; he in trench coat and fedora, a splendid show Broadway/Robot/Swing quality - and creativity - of movement, so clever, witty, fabulous!

Chris and Tara as the Titanic, and, an ENORMOUS white glacier; to a mix of the Titanic theme song, "Ice Ice Baby" (of course,) "Help," and "SOS." The Titanic story - only this time the tragic tale of the love between a glacier and a ship. Simply hilarious.

Kyle and Jessica - an angry girl with a bat dancing with a huge pinata - to "Candy Shop" and a hip-hop "Hit The Pinata;" the angry girl WILDLY trying to smash him with the bat and I mean hauling off and whomping him with all her might; and "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" where she threw down the bat and started swinging at him with her fists. Then finally, with "hit me, hit me, hit me" repeating on a loop, the angry girl grabbed the bat and swung and swung and swung madly til she bust the thing open and Kyle-the-pinata exploded, candy flying out all over the floor. So. Damn. Funnnnny. A squealing mob of grownups and kids rushed onto the floor scooping up mounds of candy on their hands and knees. I'm sure this was the moment the kids decided west coast swing dancers is what they're going to be when they grow up.

Demetre as a dancing Yellow Brick Road and the marvelous talented Karla Catana (who performed an exhibition Rhumba Friday night, with Michael Kiehm) as the Wicked Witch and Dorothy - and a cast of characters from The Wizard of Oz including a pink ballerina Good Witch, a shiny full-body silver Tin Man, a Cowardly Lion, and Ryan in a cameo (in a wheel chair (he's injured) as a - well I'm not sure what he was but it was hilarious. And a Demetre double who didn't speak Greek and was hauled off the floor by the Tin Man and Lion.

And finally, Sean and Sarah as ... Brad Whelan! And Liza May! Dueling photographers! With cameras, monopods for hitting, and a laptop for blogging. Spot on, perfectly hilarious impressions of both of us, Brad dancing with two bent knees, fixing his hair and taking selfies; and me, well, let's just say I looked fantastic and I feel very good about my dancing. Also, I want the clothes that other Liza was wearing. I want the body, too. So damn funny, I LOVED this routine! Except I was laughing so hard I had trouble taking pictures of it.

The floor was a mess, between spumes of kitty litter (sawdust), ice cubes thrown from a sinking Titanic, and an exploded pinata. No big brooms to sweep up but we got hold of two small ones; and Tatiana's ghoulish dress was so enormously huge she squatted down and slid around the floor using herself to sweep.

Tatiana's costume! Wait till you HEAR about Jordan and Tatiana's costumes! Wait till you hear about an entire ballroom filled with mind-blowing costumes! The Costume Parade! This was by far the all time best costume party I've ever been to, and the all-time best Halloween ever in history.

This event! Between the beach, the party, the MUSIC, the food trucks, the costumes, the haunted houses, the unbelievable decorations (have to tell you about the ballroom omg,) and the dancing! THE DANCING! Between all this and with a full day still to go - a Futuristic day tomorrow - I am having SO MUCH FUN!
